Dublin, Ireland

Dublin is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland. It is a beautiful city and lacks the tall skyscrapers found in American cities like New York. It has many beautiful churches and lovely architecture. I stayed in the heart of Dublin in a hotel on Talbot Street, which is located just off of O'Connell street, the main street through the center of Dublin. It's a very wide street, and the O'Connell Street bridge is the only bridge in Europe that is wider than it is long. Above and below is the River Liffey, whose source is a stream in the Wicklow moutains and flows through Dublin out into the bay.
Dublin has a lot of pretty buildings and I noticed that the banks seemed to have some of the best architecture. Churches also have some of the most gorgeous architecture in the city. Below in Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and below that, another church in south west Dublin.
Many monuments decorate the main streets of Dublin. Below is the biggest one I came across (other than the Spire), which honors Daniel O'Connell, known as the Liberator or the Emancipator of Ireland. O'Connell Street is named after him.
On a rainy and cold morning, I joined a tour heading into Wicklow. On the way, we paused to look over Dublin from up in the mountains.
