Castles of Counties Dublin and Meath

On my first tour of Ireland, we stopped by Slane Castle in county Meath on the way to the Hill of Slane. It had just rained. Concerts and other events are regularly held here each year.
On the 14th, I journeyed to the suburban town of Malahide. It is a pretty little seaside town with a 250 acre park, upon which stands Malahide Castle.
Malahide is one of the oldest castles in Ireland and was home to the Talbot family for over 800 years until the last Talbot died. It is now a popular tourist attraction located just outside of Dublin. The grounds are open to the public free of charge, and tours of the castle run throughout the day. The castle is furnished mostly with 17th and 18th century furniture, and the walls are adorned with portraits from the national museum. Due to the presence of the paintings, photography is not allowed inside the castle.
