West Mountain Sanitarium

Here we have a lovely view of Scranton from inside the superintendent's house.
A view of the smoke stack. Below, we have some shots of what's left of the building that the smoke stack was a part of.
A view of the east wing and the awesome dead tree next to it. Below, the west wing amongst the lush plant life of summer.
These beauties were taken in the basement of the west wing.
When you walk through this room, you'll notice that the floor feels rather odd... almost squishy. The basement is home to old records, which can be found all over the floor. Mostly, they are invoices, receipts and tax records. It has been said that patient record were also housed here, but as of now, the good stuff has all been looted.
This is a close up of a paper on the floor. If you look closely, you'll see that the Sanitarium purchased a hedge clipper for $5.98 on September 20, 1965.
There are a few of these odd rock structures on the side of the road that exits the Sanitarium. If you visited the Sanitarium when in operation, you would have entered at the front gate and followed a road past a few buildings. You would have continued to drive by the smoke stack and behind the west wing where there is a parking lot. To leave, you would have made your way around the west wing and passed by the large tree. Then, you would have followed a very long road to the exit.
This, of course, is the exit road.
