We visited Edwards Slaughterhouse again on a warm spring day.

Part of the building seems to have either been torn down or collapsed over the winter. The fantastic old scale is now covered in rubble. Not to be discouraged, we toured the slaughterhouse further and I grabbed a few good shots of the holding pens.

Here, you get to see the walkway from the pens to the "guillotine" from an animal's point of view.

We also confirmed that what we assumed was a type of guillotine is in fact just that. There is a switch on the deviced labeled "chin lift." The unfortunate creatures lost their lives in this part of the slaughthouse, and their meat was then attached to hooks and packed.

I snapped a few pictures that came out blurry last time and then headed out onto the roof to soak up the fantastic view.

We also came across a lot of old paper in a room. Below is a newspaper from November 19, 1977.

We also came across a pack of old invoce papers from when the slaughterhouse was in operation. The Edwards Bros Packing Company offered a wide selection of beef products to choose from. Another set of invoices revealed a second location for the Edwards Bros in Dalton, where a wider selection of meats was offered.
