Alford Station and Tower

On a frigid January day, we drove out passed Hop Bottom along US 11 and stopped at this lovely station.
Not much remains on the inside. No benches are inside, nor are there any toilets in the bathrooms. The walls are still somewhat tiled, but are slowly falling apart and have fallen victim to graffiti.
Just down the tracks is a fantastic old tower built in 1915.
It's not as colorful as the Nicholson Tower that was painted to cover graffiti, but it is in much better condition.
Towers were used to move trains onto different tracks. The top floor contained levers which were connected to the tracks via holes in the bottom of the wall, as seen below.
In the above picture, you can make out the orange levers upstairs.
